In the walls of the old castle that dominates the town, some of the terraces were laid out by the post-impressionist painter, Henri Le Sidaner, in a suspended garden visible from the promontory within the ramparts. The guided tour is a wonderful walk among 4,000 m2 of gardens and little woods on several levels: white garden, wild garden, Italian-style terraces, blue and yellow garden with a Temple of Love, rose garden, etc. You can also visit the painter’s workshop/museum. After painting in Brittany, Venice, Bruges on the banks for Lake Major, the painter settled in one of the loveliest villages in France.
